Santa 2008

I knew Wade wouldn't be up for sitting on Santa's lap this year, but have no fear, Santa always has a plan. He had John sit in his chair and hold Wade while I got on one side and he got on the other. Wade had no idea he was back there b/c the guy with the camera had a duck decoy and was squeaking it at him to occupy his attention. (In case you're thinking the duck sounds random, we were at Bass Pro.) The photo caught Wade with his eyes half shut, but we managed to get through with no tears. BPS has a really great area set up for the kids with lots of fun Christmas activities...not to mention the pics with Santa are free and you can come back as many times as you'd like!

Introducing Baby A & Baby B

8 weeks - This was when I found out there were two in there! I got to hear both heartbeats and did I mention I found this all out by myself!!! I was initially concerned because Baby B's sac appeared so much larger than Baby A's, but I later learned it's all in how you hold the ultrasound wand. The slightest movement can stretch one out or make it small.

9 weeks - Just in case there were 3, John went with me this time! Ha, I'm kidding. He wanted to go see our two pnuts for himself. Baby B is on top in this picture. Maybe because there are two or maybe just because that's how any new mom is, I was concerned after this ultrasound because Baby B seemed less formed than A. The ultrasound tech assured me all was fine. I got to hear both heartbeats this time as well. Baby A measured 2.3cm and B was at 2.33 so the fact that they're both growing at nearly the same rate was a good sign.

11 weeks - Baby A is facing the camera and you can see a profile shot of B. This ultrasound was a lot of fun b/c I could see Baby A moving all around. He/She was cutting flips and was very active. Baby B was more relaxed and I would see an arm lift up occassionally or a leg. For some reason, this ultrasound got me thinking Baby A would be my girl, fingers crossed, and Baby B would be a boy. Ultimately of course I want them both to be healthy and that's what really matters, but God, being all knowing and all, knows I want a little girl so I might as well pray for that too. =)

Fall Photo Shoot

We met up with my cousin Ashley and her husband Brandon on Sunday to take some pictures down around the Conway Marina. I always call on Ashley whenever we need an updated family photo because she does such a great job. It was extremely cold and Wade had just woken up from a short nap so he wasn't as "smiley" as I wish he would have been, but regardless I think they turned out great. You may see one of these again on a Martin Family Christmas card coming soon!

Breakfast of Champions

Look at how big my little boy is getting! Here he is with his favorite breakfast...a poptart! I know, I know, the Mom of the Year award will not be on my mantel this year.

Halloween Night

This post is a little late, well a lot, but I still had to share some shots of Wade on Halloween night with Mom and Dad.

Trunk or Treat

We had Trunk or Treat at church last night and surprisingly, Wade wore his costume. I've been trying to get him to put it on for weeks and he just kept saying no over and over. I think it helped that we had candy to bribe him with. For those of you who don't know what Trunk or Treat is, church members who wanted to participate decorated their trunks, sat out by their vehicles and passed out candy. Some went all out with scary music, orange lights and various props. It was a lot of fun!

What a cool dragon!

Wade's no dummy =)

Wade's friend Camden was pretty scary!

He was so cute!

Cousins

Here's a sweet picture of my 2 nieces with Wade. The oldest is Billy and Corinne's little girl Kaisley. Billy is John's brother. The other little girl is Zoey. She belongs to John's sister Christy and her husband Brandon. Wade and Zoey are only 12 days apart!

It's a Boy!!!

My brother called this morning to let me know I will soon have a nephew!!! I am so happy for Brian & Heather and can't wait to meet Baby Lewis...name TBD. I think we were all hoping for a boy, but thought it was a girl. We would have been happy either way, but are especially thrilled to watch this blessing grow into a lover of sports...just like his dad.

Congrats Brian & Heather!!!

Bennett Claire

Danna ended up having Bennett on her own birthday, Sept. 6, and both are doing great! I went to see them Saturday and got to hold Bennett. She is perfect! Danna did amazing and of course she looked it as well. I gave her a gift I've been working on for the past few months...my first crocheted project. The blanket turned out great and I hope Bennett feels all the love that went into making it. Congrats Danna & Chris!!!

First Bubble Bath

It's Potty Time!

While in Charleston, I visited Babies R Us to buy Wade his very own potty.

I know it's a little early, but I figured why not go ahead and start introducing him to it. I first showed it to him on Monday and he immediately sat down. I got him up and removed his pants and diaper. He wanted me to sit on my potty opposite him so I did. We sat there and talked about different things. He would get up and I would ask him to sit back down so he could TT in the potty like a big boy. When I would say I was going to have to put his diaper back on, he would say no and sit down. I was wishing I had brought a book in with me to keep his attention so he would sit longer. I looked around and grabbed the only thing I could find, John's Hot Rod magazine. I started pointing out the cars and suddenly noticed he was not only TTing in the potty, he was stinkying too!!!!!! I couldn't believe it...success on the first attempt! I tried not to scream out b/c I knew it would freak him out. I asked if he was all finished and he said uh huh(meaning yes) so I cleaned him up and put his pants and diaper back on. We emptied the contents of his potty into mine. He flushed the potty, which he loves to do, and we waved bye bye to his stinky and TT. Wade and I danced around the room while singing the "TT in the Potty" song from Look Who's Talking. We gave each other high fives and bumps while I told him how proud I was of him and what a big boy he was. He could definitely tell he had done something to please his mama. I rewarded him with some juice treats and we immediately called Daddy.

Since then, I've lost track of how many times Wade has successfully TTed in the potty. He has been doing so well with it. He won't tell me when he has to go yet. I ask him every 1-2 hours if he needs to go TT in the potty. He'll run in there and won't always go, but at least he understands the concept. I'm not in a huge rush to get him trained b/c his daycare doesn't start teaching him until he moves up to the 2 yr old room. Hopefully when he does move up it will be a smooth transition for us all.

I am so proud of our Big Boy!

Charleston Weekend

John, Wade, Mom, Dad and I all went to Charleston Labor Day weekend to visit with Brian & Heather. It was nice having us all together for some great fun, food and football games! We played tourist on Saturday and visited Angel Oak, Fort Sumter and the downtown market. Angel Oak was incredible. The pictures don't do it justice. Wade fell asleep at Fort Sumter, but enjoyed the boat ride to and from the island. We sort of skimmed through the market and decided to take one of those carriage rides before heading back to Brian & Heather's. Here are a few pictures from our weekend...

The Next Evil Knievel

We bought Wade a small 4-wheeler for his birthday. It seems the older he gets, the more adventurous he gets. We normally tell him no when he starts climbing, but I couldn't resist taking a few pictures when he performed the following...

Wade loves his horsey Aunt Robyn!

Up to no good!

I guess boys will be boys.

Summertime Watermelon

You can't let Summer slip by without watching your kid dive into a juicy watermelon. We got some great shots of Wade thoroughly enjoying himself...redneck style!
